HOW TO DO WELL IN SCIENCE THIS YEAR
If you aren't happy with your grade consider the following:
1. Do I do my homework?
Homework is assigned as a means to further your understanding of science. If you do not complete your homework you may find that your are not properly prepared for class activities. Homework also gives you a chance to review and reflect on what you know and what ideas you need more help with.
2. Am I organized?
Organization is the key to success. If you cannot find your assignments it's going to be difficult to work on them and study! Take 5 minutes a day to organize your books and papers. Take pride in your work.
3. Do I work as hard as I can in class?
You only have 40 minutes each day with your teachers. Make the most of it! Work hard, think hard, ask questions. Make sure you come to class on time and prepared! You will find that the more effort you put in during class time, the less you will have to do outside of class. Make every second of class count
4. Do I do Castle Learning each week?
Castle Learning assignments are 10 multiple choice questions that review the topics covered that week in class. They are a great way to review and reflect on science content. If you get an answer wrong the first time, try again and use the hints given to help! You can also make your own assignments to help review and study before the test. Castle Learning questions will be the same type of questions found on class quizzes, tests, and state exams. Check out castle learning and http://corp.castlelearning.com/
5. Do I redo my labs?
Students have the opportunity to redo every lab that is handed in. If any answers are marked wrong, students are encouraged to fix their answer and hand labs back in to be re- graded. Lab redos should be handed in within a week of getting the lab back.
6. Do I do test & quiz corrections?
Students are encouraged to reflect on test and quizzes. If they are unhappy with their grade students have the option to make corrections. For every question that is marked wrong, students can fill out a test correction. If they properly explain the correct response students can earn back half credit.
